I know I just blogged a couple of Halloween pics and I still have some corn-maze outings to add, BUT I had to throw this in quick. You know how cute toddlers can be and you just have to write these cute things down before you forget them. I can't imagine what it's going to be like with 2. It'll be hard to keep up with their cuteness.

A couple of things :
First- Nana (carver) bought this little "treasure box" (as Ethan refers to it). Ethan carries it around and collects his "treasures". However today it was more than just a "treasure box". Nathan came home for lunch, which he RARELY gets to do. While he and I were just sitting on the couch chatting about this and that we noticed our little "E-tom" was loading up his treasure box. He continued to close it up and grab it by the handle and walk up the stairs........we then said, "Ethan, where are you going?" Then very confidently he responded ," I'm going to work." Ha ha ha we got such a good laugh. The interesting thing about it is Nathan doesn't even carry a brief-case to work. He has a back pack he uses when going to school but that's all. It's so interesting what children will observe and how they'll understand it and apply it in their lives.

Second- I was in Target the other day picking up a few things and Ethan, who refuses to sit in the correct children spot where I can buckle him in, has to be in the back where I put groceries etc. It's
ok though we have a good system, he stays close enough to hold my hand. So we were on our way out of target, going toward the exit door and we noticed something.
There was another mother

close to us about my age getting her purse and things together. She had a little baby in a car seat in her shopping cart and another little boy around 3 or so, his name was Derek. The reason we knew his name is b/c he was running ahead of her trying to escape. She was not ready to go and he was obviously disobeying. She kept yelling his name, "Derek, wait for mommy" "Derek, you need to stop". We passed them slowly, Ethan observing the whole thing very calmly. As we get to the door, right before we walked out he pointed to Derek and yelled out, "Time-out". ha ha ha I was so embarrassed I felt bad for her, and I know she heard as well as Derek my little boy
disciplining him. So we left. Ethan knows about time out. We don't have to use it very often with him, he really is a good boy, I feel very blessed. He's a very calm, easy going child, however he has had a time out or two. He's also started this game with Nathan. Whenever Nathan will do something that Ethan doesn't like .....for example if he takes him to the bathroom for bath time or starts to clean up his toys for bed time he'll get this smirk on his face and say, "time out daddy". ha ha Even though he'll laugh about it he does respect time out, he knows to behave so he doesn't have to do it often.....but he is a toddler.
I just love watching him learn and grow and to see how smart he is. Having children is such a wonderful blessing, not to sound corny but it's the truth. We are so lucky that we get these perfect little spirits and we get to take care of them and help them. No one is a perfect parent, including me. I'm glad Ethan is patient with me while I'm learning too.

Loved the examples of "thinking grown up". He will seem so big to you when the new baby comes.
Oh gosh precious stories...especially about "going to work". These little kids are so cute and think of the cutest things..doesn't it make life so much fun?
Nicole, it was really fun to see you and Carrie at your baby shower and catch up. I'm so excited for you and Nathan to have a little girl. They are so much fun. I hope everything goes well for the delivery.
