Nathan's 27th Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday Nathan!
Nathan turned the big 27 on November 13. I of course wanted to get him a great present and have a celebration, but if any of you know Nathan you know he just likes to keep things relaxed. He's an easy man to please. He just had one request for his birthday he wanted me to make him some homemade cheesecake, which I had no arguments for. We love cheesecake, especially homemade. Luckily my sister Carrie & family were in town so we had a babysitter too. So for his birthday we went out to Tucanos which is always a treat for your birthday. To those of you that don't know about Tucanos (a Brazilian grill with all different types of tasty meats brought to your table and then a delicious buffet)and free on your birthday too. After dinner we finished our date with a movie.

Also as a side note to those of you who are interested you should check out what Nathan's been working on...........

More Shower pictures

Baby Shower !!

Baby shower for our BABY GIRL : )
My sister Carrie is so awesome. She flew into town for a few days with her husband Ryan b/c he had some business in town. While she was in town she threw 2 baby showers. She has a sister in law who lives in Idaho who's having a baby boy and then for me. I have the best sister. She had her two little kids, Kaydree & Carver with her too. Not to mention the fact that she's pregnant!! AND WITH TWINS!!!! Congratulations to Carrie and Ryan and their beautiful growing family. Speaking of which she finds out what her twins will be on Dec. 4 which is my birthday. We are so excited for her!
Here's a few highlights from my shower. I am so grateful to Carrie for throwing such a beautiful shower. My sister is very gifted with such crafty ideas, she's a natural. She had wonderful decorations and very cute party favors.

I mostly had family show up which I'm very grateful for. I know this is a busy time of the year and lots of people are busy so thanks to all that were able to come.
And thank you to my good friend Tara for helping us put everything together and for having the shower at your house. Here's a few more pictures I wanted to share of some guests that were able to come.

This is one of my good friends Hillary, we grew up together.
Our due dates are 3 weeks apart....funny thing is our first
babies, Ethan and Leah , our due dates with them were 3 weeks apart too. And then our other close friend we grew up with Kim she has her 3rd baby due 3 weeks after mine. Ha ha, it's funny how things work out.

Thanks to all of my friends and family who did come. I love you all and I'm so thankful I was able to celebrate the excitement of a new baby with you !!

Reasoning skills.....

I know I just blogged a couple of Halloween pics and I still have some corn-maze outings to add, BUT I had to throw this in quick. You know how cute toddlers can be and you just have to write these cute things down before you forget them. I can't imagine what it's going to be like with 2. It'll be hard to keep up with their cuteness.

A couple of things :
First- Nana (carver) bought this little "treasure box" (as Ethan refers to it). Ethan carries it around and collects his "treasures". However today it was more than just a "treasure box". Nathan came home for lunch, which he RARELY gets to do. While he and I were just sitting on the couch chatting about this and that we noticed our little "E-tom" was loading up his treasure box. He continued to close it up and grab it by the handle and walk up the stairs........we then said, "Ethan, where are you going?" Then very confidently he responded ," I'm going to work." Ha ha ha we got such a good laugh. The interesting thing about it is Nathan doesn't even carry a brief-case to work. He has a back pack he uses when going to school but that's all. It's so interesting what children will observe and how they'll understand it and apply it in their lives.

Second- I was in Target the other day picking up a few things and Ethan, who refuses to sit in the correct children spot where I can buckle him in, has to be in the back where I put groceries etc. It's ok though we have a good system, he stays close enough to hold my hand. So we were on our way out of target, going toward the exit door and we noticed something.

There was another mother close to us about my age getting her purse and things together. She had a little baby in a car seat in her shopping cart and another little boy around 3 or so, his name was Derek. The reason we knew his name is b/c he was running ahead of her trying to escape. She was not ready to go and he was obviously disobeying. She kept yelling his name, "Derek, wait for mommy" "Derek, you need to stop". We passed them slowly, Ethan observing the whole thing very calmly. As we get to the door, right before we walked out he pointed to Derek and yelled out, "Time-out". ha ha ha I was so embarrassed I felt bad for her, and I know she heard as well as Derek my little boy disciplining him. So we left. Ethan knows about time out. We don't have to use it very often with him, he really is a good boy, I feel very blessed. He's a very calm, easy going child, however he has had a time out or two. He's also started this game with Nathan. Whenever Nathan will do something that Ethan doesn't like .....for example if he takes him to the bathroom for bath time or starts to clean up his toys for bed time he'll get this smirk on his face and say, "time out daddy". ha ha Even though he'll laugh about it he does respect time out, he knows to behave so he doesn't have to do it often.....but he is a toddler.
I just love watching him learn and grow and to see how smart he is. Having children is such a wonderful blessing, not to sound corny but it's the truth. We are so lucky that we get these perfect little spirits and we get to take care of them and help them. No one is a perfect parent, including me. I'm glad Ethan is patient with me while I'm learning too.

Pumpkin fun.....

We finally got around to carving a pumpkin! We wanted to wait to do it as a family, but it didn't work out. Nathan has just been crazy busy with school and work. I feel so bad for him. It is too bad that he's responsible for going to school FULL time and work FULL time and have a family FULL time all at the same time... I couldn't pull it off. We admire him so much for all he does and still manages to be so successful with work and get A's in school. We think he's so awesome!!! Anyway after that little tribute to Nathan.....we'll get to pumpkins. So we let Ethan pick out a pumpkin, of course he wanted a big one, why not? So here's just a few pictures of our carving experience. Here's the before picture, he's checking it out, studying it.....

I think here he's starting to like the pumpkin and getting attached.....

Here's him after me telling him we're going to cut the pumpkin up.....I think he was a little nervous, thinking he would lose his new friend : )

Now he's starting to get the idea.

And we get to work!

Here's Ethan's "work/concentration" face.....interestingly enough his daddy makes the same face when working on projects, ha ha. Like father like son right?

All finished!!!!! I asked him, "what do you think E?" and he said, "wow" (his wow face)

Here's his proud face. I think he felt like he accomplished something huge....even though he did have lots of help from mommy.

I just had to take everyone on a play by play so you could see all of Ethan's animated faces... He just keeps me laughing. He has so much personality and is so cute I had to share. We had a great time! (more Halloween pictures to come)
